Sandals Foundation Brings Holiday Magic to 400 Children in Whitehouse, Westmoreland

The holiday spirit shone brightly in Whitehouse, Westmoreland this week as the Sandals Foundation hosted a heartwarming holiday treat for 400 local children—a community still recovering from the impact of Hurricane Melissa. Even in the midst of rebuilding, joy found its way back to the island.

“It has been a tough few weeks for families in Whitehouse, but nothing should eliminate the magic of the holiday season and giving our young ones a moment of pure joy,” shared Heidi Clarke, Executive Director of the Sandals Foundation. Her words captured the heart of the event: hope, resilience, and the power of community.

A Day Filled With Laughter, Love, and Surprise Guests

The children’s faces lit up as beloved Sesame Street characters Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby made a surprise appearance. Their arrival brought squeals of excitement, dancing, and pure childhood delight—exactly the kind of magic the community needed.

Among the volunteers and supporters (were the 2 of us)- The Sand Lady, Carlie Finch and Clint Finch, as we proudly serve on the Sandals Foundation Advisory Board. Deeply committed to Sandals Resorts and the Caribbean communities they serve. We are passionate about giving back and helping families rebuild stronger than before.

Holiday Cheer Across the Caribbean

This celebration in Whitehouse is just one part of the Sandals Foundation’s larger regional effort. Across the Caribbean, the Foundation is distributing 45,000 toys as part of its annual holiday tradition—bringing smiles to children from Jamaica to Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, and beyond.

This year, the mission carries even greater meaning. Clarke explained, “We are grateful to be able to partner with Food For the Poor, Rainforest Foundation, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and others who will help us distribute 18,000 toys within the deepest corners of our affected communities to guarantee more children can share in the magic of the season.”

A Season of Giving, A Legacy of Hope

The Sandals Foundation continues to be a beacon of compassion throughout the Caribbean, especially in times of hardship. Events like this remind us that even after storms—literal or emotional—joy can return, communities can heal, and children can still experience the wonder of the holidays.
